Health Related Quality of Life in Migrant and Biracial Children
Bejerano Ivy Lynne

Abstract
Purpose: This review article aimed to provide comprehensive understanding on HRQOL of migrant and biracial
children specifically on physical, social, emotional and mental wellbeing.

Method: Published articles from 1995-2014 were searched using databases such as PubMED, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Science Direct and Social Sciences showing abstracts, full texts and reports on the health-related status of migrant and biracial children. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 40 qualified articles were included in the review process.

Results: Articles were quantitative studies, written in English and migrant children without acute or chronic illness. Health Related Quality of Life in migrant and biracial children showed the high incidence of malnutrition affecting physical wellbeing; social functioning including poor school performance and experience of racial discrimination; emotional and mental health showed high incidence of depression, suicidal attempts and violent behaviors.

Conclusion: Through the assessment of HRQOL in migrant and biracial children, it will assist the health care provider in identifying the developmental needs of children and prevent future problems resulting from ineffective cognitive, emotional and psychosocial development of biracial children.
